We are committed to protecting your privacy. 1. Data We Collect


1.1 Data you provide to us

Registration

To create an account you need to provide data including your name, date of birth, email address, phone number and a password.

Registered User Profile

Once registered you have choices about the information you provide on your user profile, such as your location, employment and language details. 


1.2 Data from others

You and others may post content that includes information about you (as part of articles, posts, comments, videos, etc.) on our Website. Please review our Terms & Conditions for more information on data and information which can be posted by users. 


1.3 Your device and location 

IP address

The IP address of a user’s device is automatically recorded when a registered user logs into our website. We do not use this for tracking purposes and we do not share or report on this information.

Location data provided at registration

When you sign up for an account or enrol in a course, we request that you supply us with location data. This is to ensure the continued improvement and suitability of our products. If you choose to supply this information to us, we will not share this data with third parties. All insights and reporting on location data will be de-identified.


1.4 Messages

Private messaging

You may receive messages and notifications through the LMS (e.g. course reminders, assignment submission confirmation, etc.). All private messages sent to you through the LMS, either via the LMS messaging system or email, are private communications which will not be shared with third parties without your express permission.

Messages and notifications received through the LMS: discussion board or public forum

All user posts on course discussion boards or public forums may be viewed and shared by registered users and the general public. We take no responsibility for any viewing, copying, editing or dissemination of information posted in discussion boards or public forums. Please view our Terms & Conditions for further details.

Other messages

You may send or receive messages to/from the Learning Hub @ Peter Mac via the LMS, email or other means. No private correspondence will be shared with third parties without the express permission of the sender.


1.5 Workplace and school provided information 

Organisations or bodies applying for or purchasing our educational services on your behalf, such as your employer or university, may provide us with personal data about you, including contact details or information which allows us to assess your eligibility to use the website and other educational services.




2. How We Use Your Data


2.1 Services

We use your data to authorise access to our website and other educational services. This includes having an active profile which allows you to explore our catalogue and all learning opportunities or purchase/enrol in courses.


2.2 Communications

We will contact you through your registered email address. We will send you messages about the availability of our educational services, security, or other service-related issues. We also send messages about new courses available and other learning opportunities we think will suit your profile.


2.3 Advertising & Marketing

We target (and measure the performance of) advertisements to registered users on our Website directly or through a variety of contractors and third parties, using the following data, whether separately or combined:

  • Data from advertising technologies on our website, pixels, ad tags, cookies, and device identifiers;
  • Member-provided information (e.g., profile, contact information, title and industry);
  • Data from your use of our website (e.g., search history, feed, content you read); and
  • Information inferred from data described above (e.g., using job titles from a profile). 

In addition to advertising our courses, we use registered users’ data and content for invitations and communications promoting new courses.

Registered users may opt out of marketing and advertising subscription lists during registration or update their mailing list preferences for marketing communications sent via third party platforms.


2.4 Service Development

We use data, including public feedback, to conduct research and development for our website and educational services in order to provide you and others with a better, more intuitive and personalised experience, drive membership growth and engagement on our website, and increase learning and development.


2.5 Customer support

We use your data to investigate, respond to and resolve issues and address queries.


2.6 Insights that do not identify you

We use your data to produce and share insights that do not identify you. For example, we may use your data to generate statistics about our registered users, user professions or industries, or to create demographic workforce insights.




3. Your Choices & Obligations


3.1 Data Retention

We generally retain your personal data as long as you keep your account open. This includes data you or others provide to us and data generated or inferred from your use of our website and educational services. Even if you only use our website when looking for a new course every couple of months, we will retain your information and keep your profile open unless you close your account. In some cases we choose to retain certain information (e.g. insights about website use) in a depersonalized or aggregated form. 3.2 Rights to Access and Control your Personal Data

For personal data that we have about you, you can:

Delete data: You can ask us to erase or delete all or some of your personal data (e.g. if it is no longer necessary to provide educational services to you).

Change or correct data: You can edit some of your personal data through your account. You can also ask us to change, update or fix your data in certain cases, particularly if it is inaccurate.

Object to, limit or restrict use of data: You can ask us to stop using all or some of your personal data (e.g. if we have no legal right to keep using it) or to limit our use of it (e.g. if your personal data is inaccurate or unlawfully held).

Right to access and/or take your data: You can ask us for a copy of your personal data and can ask for a copy of personal data you provided in machine readable form.


3.3 Account Closure

We retain your personal data even after you have closed your account if reasonably necessary to comply with our legal obligations (including law enforcement requests), meet regulatory requirements, resolve disputes, maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms & Conditions, or fulfil your request to "unsubscribe" from further messages from us. We will retain de-personalised information after your account has been closed.
